The San Antonio Police placed the mall on lock down while they sorted through the confusing situation.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for the Murphy family.
“For as long as I’ve known them, I’ve been amazed at how passionately Jon and Aimee Murphy loved each other. They looked after each other and their family the way thoroughly good people do,” a family friend, a former boyfriend of Murphy’s step daughter wrote on the page. ”
“Jon was a first rate protector. When I started dating his step daughter, he let me know in no uncertain terms that his eyes were on me, and I was a better man for it. ”
“When someone tried to break into his house when his family was home a while back, he sprang into action with little regard for his own safety and saved the day. He worked as hard and selflessly as anyone I’ve ever met, and he did it all for his family.”
“Jon, the protector, lost his life making sure nobody else did.”
