Jared Kushner, the senior adviser and son-in-law to President Donald Trump, is the subject of internet-based mockery after photos of him wearing a flak jacket over a blazer and khakis ended up online. 36-year-old Kushner was tasked by Trump to manage the Middle East peace process, but social media users struggled to take him seriously after this fashion faux pas.
Much of the scorn focuses on the incongruity of Kushner’s outfit in regards to his surroundings. Surrounded by military personnel donning standard camouflage attire, Kushner sticks out in his blue sport coat, button-down shirt, khakis, and Ray-Bans. Combine that with the “Kushner” written across his chest, and social media decided to let him have it.
Twitter was especially ruthless about Kushner’s fashion choice.

As reported by the Daily Mail, a spokesman for the military stated Kushner was “traveling on behalf of the president to express the president’s support and commitment to the government of Iraq and US personnel currently engaged in the campaign.” However, Kushner’s fashion choice was clearly his own.
