Israel Allegedly Bombs Syrian Base After Chemical Weapon Attack

Syria is once again the center of international attention after the regime of dictator Bashar al-Assad reportedly launched a chemical attack that killed dozens of civilians. While the U.S. and the U.N. are calling for meaningful consequences, Israel appears to have taken more direct measures and attacked Syrian and Iranian forces in the country.

The missile strikes, which Syria initially blames on the U.S., reportedly killed 14. This marks an escalation of Israel’s involvement in the Syrian civil war.

Meanwhile, President Trump has again taken to twitter to voice his displeasure and place blame. He’s given a new nickname to Bashar al-Assad and promises there will be a “big price to pay” for the attack.

“Russia has blamed Israel for the strike on the T-4 military base in Homs province,” the Daily Mail writes.

“Moscow said two Israeli F-15 fighters launched the attack while flying over neighboring Lebanon, targeting the base with eight missiles  – five of which were shot down. The aircraft did not enter Syrian airspace, it said, while local reports claimed the rockets crossed Lebanese airspace over Keserwan and Bekaa districts.”

Reports from Washington indicate that it was Israel and that the U.S. had been given notice of the impending raid.

The attacks came in response to a poison gas attack Saturday. That incident, presumably carried out with some form of chlorine gas, killed dozens of civilians, including many children, in the eastern suburbs of Damascus, a known stronghold for Syrian opposition.

The image above is reportedly one of the missiles. It was taken above Lebanon.  The Lebanese Armed Forces issued a statement that says Israeli warplanes stayed in Lebanese airspace for 10 minutes.

The Syrian government, as has become typical in these attacks, denies using chemical weapons. The rest of the international community, though, isn’t buying the denial.

“Many dead, including women and children, in mindless CHEMICAL attack in Syria. Area of atrocity is in lockdown and encircled by Syrian Army, making it completely inaccessible to outside world,” Trump wrote. “President Putin, Russia and Iran are responsible for backing Animal Assad. Big price to pay.”

“Open area immediately for medical help and verification,” he ordered. “Another humanitarian disaster for no reason whatsoever. SICK!”

“If President Obama had crossed his stated Red Line In the Sand, the Syrian disaster would have ended long ago!” Trump tweeted. “Animal Assad would have been history!”

Just how will the U.N. and the U.S. respond to the attack?
