Flat-Earth conspiracy theorist groups have been popping up now more than ever. Various groups like Flat Earth Activism and God’s Flat Earth truly believe that the earth is flat, which has been disproven since the ancient Greeks. Well, one Flat Earth believer decided to “prove” the earth is flat once and for all, but things didn’t turn out like he thought they would.

A conspiracy theorist who goes by the online name of D. Marble posted a video to his YouTube channel to prove his theory. He took a spirit level onto a flight from North Carolina to Seattle reasoning that if the earth is curved, then the pilot would have to constantly dip the nose of the plane as he flew to compensate for the curvature of the earth.
The video shows the spirit level staying completely still during the flight, causing his fellow conspiracy theorists to congratulate him for finally substantiating their claims. They are thrilled that he has proven something that they have “known” for years.
“I recorded a 23 minute and 45 seconds time-lapse, which by those measurements means the plane traveled a little over 203 miles,” he explained in the video. “According to curvature math given to explain the globe model, this should have resulted in the compensation of 5 miles of curvature. As you’ll see there was no measurable compensation for curvature.”
Commentators within the speculative society thanked D. Marble for adding “scientific” evidence to their argument. One commentator even said that this video should be going “viral” so that more people can see the “proof.”
Well, the video has gone viral, but it may not be for the same reason they intended.
Once the video made it on Twitter, common sense started to prevail as droves of people chimed in to dismantle his notion. Twitter user Biggles stopped the Flat-Earth society in their tracks with his explanation as to why the spirit level never swayed.
“Gravity pulls the plane back to earth, and does so with the liquid in the level too. The plane and level are perpendiculars” he explained. “Which acts as a sum vector of the earth’s mass, pulling towards the earth’s ‘center of mass.'”
Other commentators trashed D.Marble’s so-called “scientific notion” by asking if he even looked out the window once during the flight as he could have literally seen the earth’s curvature while flying. Others simply laughed at him for being so caught up in this nonsensical theory that he took a trip across the country just to prove a point.
Sometimes no matter how strongly you feel that you may be right, use some common sense. Oh, and be sure to post on the internet because there are thousands waiting there to point out to you the error of your ways.
