May 25, 2018 seems like it is light years away. That’s when Star Wars fans will line up to see the Han Solo bio-pic. The die-hard enthusiasts, though, are getting some insight into what kinds of questions the new Star Wars films will answer. So what’s in store for the rouge smuggler turned rebel general?

The Star Wars Films are, first and foremost, the single source of fictional facts. While some of the books, comics, and games, may well have long reaching implications for the Star Wars “universe,” until those story lines become the plots of feature length films, they are subject to change.

So the Han Solo film will answer some of the questions about the old Nerf-Herder, and many die-hard fans are worried. What if they don’t like his origin story?

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, a member of the new film’s cast, did an interview with the Radio Times. In it, she explained that keeping secrets is difficult. “Yeah, it’s really hard,” she said. “Especially after a day of it and I just come home and go ‘argh!’ I can’t even do anything!”

She can keep her mouth shut, but someone will talk. The best we’ve got now are some hints dropped by Disney CEO Bob Iger. At a talk at USC recently, Iger said the new film will follow Han from age 18 to 24.  Alden Ehrenreich, 27, will play Han. The film will show Han “acquiring a certain vehicle and meeting a certain Wookie,” Iger said. “You’ll also discover how he got his name.”

Han Solo isn’t Han Solo’s real name?

This should come as no surprise, really. Other stories have shown Han has different pseudonyms. Vykk Draygo, Zack Kluggerhorn, and Master Marksman….

Those who study the films are weary of the decision to provide clarity to the backstory of mysterious iconic characters. Darth Vader’s origin story seems to have impressed the second generation of Star Wars fans, but left the first (the ones who came of age during the New Hope, Empire, Jedi era) feeling greatly disappointed.
