READING, PA – I don’t know if there is a certain protocol checklist that criminals follow before committing a crime, but if there is I would imagine that making sure there isn’t a cop right behind you would be high on the list.

In the video captured by the taxi’s surveillance camera we see a masked, hooded man armed with a handgun point the weapon at the taxi driver and demand money.

Berks County sheriff’s deputy Terry Eli, who was behind the taxi, noticed the taxi did not proceed through a red light and approached the vehicle. The would be robber didn’t even notice the cruiser’s lights come on behind him.

When Eli approached the cab he noticed the gun and immediately drew his firearm. He ordered the suspect out of the car and was able to make an arrest without further incident.

The suspect was identified as Eighteen-year-old Victor Martinez-Herrera according to ABC News. He remains in jail on several felony charges.
