Identity politics have dominated news cycles recently. From transgender Cub Scouts and bathroom usage, to who can or can’t identify as black, our social constructs of identity are hotly debated. But one woman is taking the debate to a new level and in Norway!

Meet “Nano”, a 20-year old Norwegian woman, who is convinced that she is a cat. This whole episode erupted after she posted a video on YouTube. “I realized I was a cat when I was 16 when doctors and psychologists found what was ‘the thing’ with me. Under my birth there was a genetic defect…. I was born the wrong species.”

You heard that right. She hisses at dogs, doesn’t like water, and she says that she has an enhanced sense of smell and hearing. She even claims to have cat-like night vision.

As you can already tell, there is probably a lot more going on inside her head then we may ever know.

The shocking truth is that she could be serious. Family Research Council’s Peter Sprigg said this in an interview with LifeSiteNews

“Given today’s ‘identity politics,’ I would not be surprised if she is serious. Of course, the temptation is to say, ‘This is obviously ridiculous.’ You could look at the makeup of her DNA and at the anatomy of her body and know the she is a human being, not a cat. But the exact same thing could be said about a man who claims to be a woman (or vice versa), and yet today’s political correctness dictates that we treat the latter claim with deadly earnestness.”

However, Nano seems to be fine with her life saying, “My psychologist told me I can grow out of it, but I doubt it. I think I will be cat all my life.”

Questions abound. How has her lifestyle affected her diet? Does she use a littler box? Who cleans it? Like most cats, is she a solitary creature, or does she prefer the company of a single human?
