Many have speculated what role Kellyanna Conway, Trump’s third campaign manager, who many credit with reigning Trump in a bit during the campaign and orchestrating a final push that allowed Trump a path to the White House, would play in the administration going forward.
Conway, who often acts as Trump’s official spokesperson on television and radio seemed like a lock for some position and many people thought that she would likely land in the press secretary role given her current spokesperson role.
However, it looks like Conway will have far more influence in the administration that simply dealing with the press.
Early this morning President-Elect Donald Trump named Conway Counselor to the President. She will be one of Trump’s closest advisers and help oversee the day to day operations of the administration.
According to a New York Times report:
Kellyanne Conway, the Republican pollster and strategist who helped guide President-elect Donald J. Trump to victory in November, will be appointed counselor to the president, becoming the highest-ranking woman in his White House, the transition team announced early Thursday.
Ms. Conway, who took over as campaign manager in August, shortly after Mr. Trump clinched the Republican nomination, guided her candidate through a brutal and divisive campaign, often appearing on television to vouch for him during periods of scandal or controversy.
In a statement, Mr. Trump said Ms. Conway would continue her role as a “close adviser,” responsible for helping to carry out his priorities and deliver his message from inside the White House.
”She is a tireless and tenacious advocate of my agenda and has amazing insights on how to effectively communicate our message,” Mr. Trump said. “I am pleased that she will be part of my senior team in the West Wing.”
Conway is often called “The Trump Whisperer” for her ability to make the President-Elect more personable, relate-able and keep him on message during public appearances.
Her new role will see her have a high level of access to the president and she will likely be advising him on all key aspects of the administration.

With Trump’s victory on November 8, she became the first woman in history to lead a successful U.S. presidential campaign.
