Reports are emerging that there has been a mass casualty incident in Ohio, outside of Cincinnati. Police say at least seven people have been shot and killed.

Some of the victims are children. Police say the dead are spread across three different crime scenes and they believe the shooter is still at large.

According to a report from a local Fox affiliate the police response has been enormous so far:

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation sent a large number of agents – everyone – to assist local authorities, said a spokeswoman for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

BCI sent crime scene investigators, special investigators, criminal intelligence agents and cyber crime investigators.

Peebles High School is on lockdown as a precaution, a school official said. The high school is about 10 miles from the shooting scene.

Police say the victims may all be members of the same family.

The area where the murders took place is surrounded by dense forest, so authorities may be in for a long manhunt.
