Both the Air Force and Navy suffered losses of two fighter jets earlier today in separate incidents. Earlier today, following the graduation ceremony at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, which was attended by the president, an Air Force Thunderbird crashed. The pilot in that case is reported to be alive.

In a separate incident, a Navy Blue Angels jet crashed in Tennessee. It is reported that one person died in that crash, but the Navy has not confirmed if it was the pilot.

According to the CNN report, President Obama met with the Thunderbird pilot before leaving Colorado:

President Obama later met with the pilot when he visited the air force base.

“The President thanked the pilot for his service to the country and expressed his relief that the pilot was not seriously injured. The President also thanked the first responders who acted quickly to tend to the pilot,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said.
