Billionaire Peter Thiel said this about the average Trump supporter: “I think a lot of voters who vote for Trump take Trump seriously but not literally….” It has been noted that Clinton and most of her supporters refused to take Trump seriously.
Yet the President-elect is hardly the first republican to have this difficulty. And now it looks like one of his “straight talk” predecessors may be a serious contender for a cabinet position, and that’s not going to make democrats happy.

Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, rocketed into the national spotlight when she ran with John McCain back in 2008. Despite her political experience, the mainstream media made Palin a target. The treatment she received foreshadowed the reception that Trump received. Yet in the years since her vice-presidential bid, Palin has become a prominent pundit for the media.
Now ABC is reporting that Palin is in the running for a cabinet position in the new Trump administration.
The New York Post called the development “devastating.” Palin is a contender for Department of Veterans Affairs secretary. The news is surprising, considering Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway just last week suggested there was no plan to include Palin at the cabinet level.
“I know that they’re close and that she’s been a great, loyal friend and adviser to him throughout the campaign, but I haven’t seen her as part of the cabinet mix,” Conway said on Fox News’ “The Kelly File.”
After considering her statement, Conway quickly corrected: “But that doesn’t mean that she’s not.” The reports are not official yet, which means this news may be little more than gossip. Yet Palin’s fans are hopeful.
Palin has been active on social media of late, and posting more than usual about veterans. She posted this on Facebook:
“We should be grateful we’ll soon have a commander-in-chief who will champion our vets and honor the promises our nation made; a pro-private sector individual who surely understands bigger government is NOT the answer; a President who promised to drain the swamp and clean up all government corruption… all things our vets and active duty troops deserve.”
