Chris Pratt’s got his heart in the right place. Unlike so many of the Hollywood elite who seem to live by their own rules, Pratt seems pretty well grounded. He’s taken to Instagram recently to raise awareness of veteran suicides.

If you were expecting this to be one of those awe-struck fan pieces, or maybe a lighthearted Hollywood entertainment piece, I’ll apologize upfront. It isn’t. Veteran suicides are a massive epidemic in this country. On average, 22 vets kill them selves–every day.

Here’s the challenge. You do 22 pushups and then challenge someone else. Spread the word. Get all viral with it. At the very least, it is a public way to let the vets know they’ve not been completely forgotten.

6,500 vets killed themselves in 2013. That averages out to 22 a day. Most are men. Most are combat vets, and most are believed to have post-traumatic stress disorder. This alarming number is much higher than the suicide rate for the general population–more than double.

So Pratt and others want to spread the word. Awareness is the first step. Once you know about the problem it is hard to ignore. If you want more information, check out these links below.
