The health kick has taken over America as of late. People are more conscious of what they put in their bodies and carb count like it’s nobody’s business. Some chains say they are healthier than others to appeal to the new health masses. Surprisingly, there are some on this list that will make you reconsider your “usual” menu items. The Food and Drug Administration recommends an average daily intake of 2,000 calories. While many of these arrangements look like single meals, each one would be all you are recommended to eat in an entire day.

Five Guys: One of the top burger chains in the country. All it takes is a bacon cheeseburger and large fry.  Total calories: 2,230

Arby’s: Brings a little more to the table, at least you can get a drink. Roasted turkey ranch and bacon sandwich, large curly fries, ketchup, horsey sauce, medium chocolate shake to wash it all down. Total calories: 2,010

Burger King: Longtime competitor of McDonalds, seems to be a bit excessive for one meal. Double Whopper with cheese, larges fires, large onion ring, two oatmeal-raisin cookies and a large coke. Total calories: 2,990

Chic-Fil-a: Everyone’s favorite chicken place that we all wish was open on Sundays. Spicy chicken deluxe sandwich, large waffle fries, chicken salad, large vanilla milkshake. Total calories: 2,070

Chipotle: Healthy eaters have been flocking to this location for its heathy fare. But it seems you have to choose carefully. Steak burrito with white rice, black beans, corn salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. Total calories: 2,045

Panera Bread: Continuing with the healthier alternatives. Panera states they offer clean, healthy food. Nutritional facts say otherwise. New England clam-chowder bread bowl, chips, chocolate-chip cookie, bottled lemonade. That’s it? Total calories: 2,160

KFC: Where you can get all that “finger licking good” chicken. Surprisingly a lot, all larges as well. Doublicious sandwich, large popcorn nuggets, large mashed potatoes with gravy, large mac and cheese, large coleslaw. Total calories: 2,940.

Starbucks: You see the line wrapped all the way around the store in the morning on the way to work. You should be able to get quite a bit of food and coffee, right? Venti white-chocolate mocha, sausage and cheddar classic breakfast sandwich, dark cherry Greek yogurt, salted caramel cake pop, coffee cake. Total calories: 2,030.

McDonalds: Saving the best for last, or in this case, the worst for last. Bacon clubhouse crispy-chicken sandwich, large fries, mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce, Oreo McFlurry. Total calories: 2,010

So there you have it. Some surprising – or maybe not so surprising – calorie counts for your favorite foods. Just remember any one of these meals is your entire calorie allotment for the day. So maybe we should phase out fast food, so we can actually have more than one meal a day.
