17-year old Daniel always relished the idea of homecoming. With homecoming right around the corner at his high school, it was his time to shine and have his dream come true.
Sadly, he was turned down by every girl he asked. You see, Daniel has Down Syndrome and we all know how superficial high schoolers can be. That is until a stranger stepped up and made all the difference in Daniel’s life.

A 10th grader named Kylie Fronius stepped up and asked Daniel to the dance herself. “I don’t think of kids that have a disability… I don’t think of them as being different,” Kylie says. “I hope I can make his night fun.”
Daniel’s mom Tonya was stunned beyond belief by Kylie’s incredibly kind gesture. “It’s not about that Daniel has a disability. It’s Kylie didn’t see any disability. That is what your heart wants as a mom.”
The group at the FOX5 Surprise Squad were likewise in awe of Kylie’s sweet demonstration of kindness. So they decided to appear before the homecoming dance to convey a night of shocks no one could have envisioned.
The lavish night consisted of being driven to the dance in a shiny Rolls Royce and a red carpet entrance. The Surprise Squad took Daniel and Kylie to Bistro 57. Daniel loves meatballs, so the chef made him some just like his mom does at home.
Daniel’s mother knew he’d always wanted to go to the high-end restaurant, but sadly she knew she could never afford to bring her son to the restaurant as it was too expensive. Daniel also has an interest in food; he has told his mother after high-school he plans to go to college to be a chef.
The surprises didn’t stop there, though. The Surprise Squad had more surprises hidden up their sleeves. Daniel and Kylie’s family were both given an all expense paid trip to Disney World. And since Daniel had the ambition to go to college, he was awarded a $10,000 check towards his college expenses.
The night was what Daniel always imagined. The young man ended up breaking down in tears of joy before the night was over.
