The film Shawshank Redemption is on the list of best films of all time for many people. Morgan Freeman says that although the movie flopped at the box office, it created the demand for his voice as the narrator in documentaries, movies, and now interviews.

Freeman appeared on The Graham Norton Show recently to give an interview. Norton brought up Shawshank Redemption and asked why it bombed at the box office? Freeman thought it because the title was too hard to pronounce, and there was no word of mouth promotion of the film.
Norton then asked if that was the movie that kicked off his narration of everything under the sun? “Yeah, that was it” he replied.
Norton then asked if he would lend his narration skills to the show and do it with a Shawshank-style twist. Freeman regretfully agrees as if this isn’t the thousandth time he has had to do it this week. But we’re so glad that he did because it was hilarious.
“I must admit I didn’t think much of Graham Norton the first time I laid eyes on him,” Freeman began. “Looked like a stiff breeze could blow him over.”
“I could see him why some people took him for annoying, he had a walk and a talk that just wasn’t normal around here,” he said. “And boy did he drink” as Norton began taking a big gulp of wine.
“I hope to finish this talk show one day,” he continued. “I hope Michael stops talking for just one second. I hope people stop asking me to do stupid voice-overs like this.” The audiences got a pretty good kick out of it as they were laughing uncontrollably.
Freeman is a national treasure of this generation. He makes us laugh and can make us cry in a split second. Sure, he may get tired of narrating, but he has a real knack for it. He could be a great salesman if he ever wanted to give up acting. We’d pretty much buy anything Freeman was selling with that soothing voice.
