The Fight of the Century came and went with Floyd Mayweather declared the winner of the bout in the 10th round. No matter who you were pulling for, the fight was one of the most watched boxing matches in quite some time. And with that distinction comes all the glorious memes from social media.

Throughout the fight, Mayweather would drop his head to avoid being hit by McGregor. The Irishman’s natural instinct took over, and he would hit Mayweather in the back of the head repeatedly.

McGregor would also “hug” Mayweather’s back at times, and someone brilliantly connected that to the now iconic image of Rose and Jack looking over the bow of the Titanic.

The second meme comes from The Simpsons. They’ve been right about various historical moments such as Donald Trump being named president, so why wouldn’t they have known Mayweather was going to win the fight?

One Instagram user could argue she created the best meme of the night. “Conor got hit so hard his snot came out like a Nike swoosh,” user name “they_luh_nini” posted.

There is no denying that McGregor impressed many with his resilience during the fight, but towards the 9th and leading into the 10th round, he was exhausted and Mayweather took him to school.

The viewers had fun making fun of Mayweather also. When the 50-0 boxer came out, he wore a ski mask, and many of the fan fans didn’t waste any time comparing it to an episode of Spongebob Squarepants.

Others, presumably gamers, felt Mayweather looked like he had just completed a heist from Grand Theft Auto Five.

The fight was one for the ages. McGregor won the first three to four rounds as he was in complete control. According to Mayweather, this was all part of his plan going into the bout.

“Our game plan was to take our time, let him shoot all his heavy shots early and then take him out at the end down the stretch.”

After the fight, the two fighters shook hands and congratulated one another. Mayweather reached his 50-0 record with this fight, and to no one’s surprise, announced he will retire once more and will not come out again.

McGregor, on the other hand, is only 29 and has plenty of time to decide which sport he wants to focus on from here on out. Ultimately, at the end of the day, both men are millions of dollars richer.
