It doesn’t get more patriotic than this. In a world of athletes and supposed “role models” refusing to stand for our country’s national anthem, one high school in Midland, TX decided to show how you respect America.
In pre-game activities, the team came out and charged the field. Each student-athlete carried an American flag in hand.

The team’s head coach, Chad Hanna, spoke with a local news station, KCBD, about the pregame display. Hanna said that this was something he and his team had been doing since the middle of the season.
“We are a community here,” said Hanna. “This was a great way to show our support for our country, for the men that have made the sacrifice serving that flag.” With the team partaking in this patriotic act previously, the playoff atmosphere on Veterans Day gave it a special meaning.
The coached explained how much it meant to his players to honor the men and women that represent that flag. “They were excited,” said Hanna. “It was an awesome sight. Just spectacular.”
In the end, Hanna’s team, The Rangers, lost the first-round playoff game to Bushland 49-42, but coach Hanna is nonetheless proud of the gesture’s impact. “The great thing that has come from this is the amount of support we have gotten from our community and by so many that have seen the video.”
It’s nice to see that some athletes are going against the trend of NFL players refusing to stand for the anthem. These young men stood in unity for this country, not for the publicity, not for the money, but because they know that you should always show respect to the flag and your country.
Colin Kaepernick and the other NFL players that sit for his movement and make millions of dollars should take a note from these patriotic young men.
